Barista Basic / Barista Coffee (Level 1)
In our Barista Basic / Barista Coffee course (Level 1) you'll master the basics and some of the crucial theory involved in making the perfect espresso coffee.
Under the direction of our industry professional trainers, you'll learn to create six different coffees that are commonly served in cafes around Australia, along with grinding techniques, milk texturing and much more. Our classes are capped at 12 participants, with each student gaining the essential experience of creating coffees using a professional coffee machine.
The four-hour course covers:
- The history of coffee
- Preparing a range of espresso coffees
- Texturing milk correctly
- Coffee machine operation
- How to make each coffee on the menu
- Coffee presentation
- Using & setting the coffee grinder
- Cleaning & maintenance of equipment
- Job referral Information.
Students who complete iTFE's Barista Basics course are welcome to enrol in our Level 2 Barista course. In our Barista Level 2, your trainer will divulge more into the art of making coffee, including speed techniques, hygiene practices and an introduction to latte art.
This Barista Basics course is based upon the nationally accredited Unit of Competency – SITHFAB005 Prepare and serve espresso coffee by the Australian National Training Authority.
In our Barista Level 1 course participants will gain hands-on experience using a coffee machine and the confidence and knowledge to make the most commonly requested coffees. Students receive a certificate of participation upon completion of this course.
Course is run over four consecutive hours.
Please note as a part of Health and Safety Standards, ensure that you wear adequate footwear such as closed-in shoes to participate in this course. Participants are required to bring proof of identification documents, such as a passport or driver’s licence on the day of training.
