Trainer Spotlight: Introducing Jennifer Volke

At iTFE, we’re proud to work with trainers who bring real‑world experience, genuine care, and a passion for helping others succeed. One of those trainers is Jennifer Volke, whose career spans more than two decades across corporate training and the VET sector.

We sat down with Jennifer to learn more about her journey into training, what she finds most rewarding, and her advice for others considering a career as a trainer and assessor.

A passion built on education and experience

Jennifer’s commitment to training is grounded in a strong belief in the power of education — in all its forms.

“I have a passion for people being the best they can be. This, to me, is about education. The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary is education. From a formal, accredited, recognised certification to educating yourself to complete a new skill by watching YouTube.”

Her move into training was a natural progression, driven by both her studies and hands‑on leadership experience.

“After completing my studies and helping my team complete theirs in the same course, I was encouraged to consider becoming a trainer because I could use my stories and experience to demonstrate the skills and knowledge I had gained.”

This practical, experience‑led approach is something Jennifer brings into every classroom, helping learners connect theory with real‑world application.

The most rewarding part of being a trainer

For Jennifer, the impact of training goes far beyond assessment and completion.

“Watching my students have the ‘ohhhh … that’s what it means’ expression on their faces when they realise the reasoning behind something.”

She also finds fulfilment in seeing learners take what they’ve learned back into their workplaces.

“Also, having students apply what they have learnt in their workplace and progress in their careers through their studies. These are the most rewarding things in my role as a trainer.”

This focus on understanding, confidence, and career progression reflects the kind of outcomes iTFE aims to deliver through quality training and industry‑experienced trainers.

Advice for future trainers and assessors

For those thinking about stepping into training, Jennifer offers reassurance and encouragement.

“Enjoy the journey. You will be okay! Don’t doubt yourself. You have the answer sheet and the experience to apply the knowledge and skills needed to help people get through their work.”

She also highlights the importance of connection and trust.

“Always be relatable and available, which builds the trust students need to complete.”

It’s advice that speaks to the heart of effective training — being supportive, approachable, and grounded in real experience.

Life outside the classroom

When she’s not training, Jennifer values time spent outdoors with the people closest to her.

“Be on or near the water with family and friends. Boating, swimming, fishing and crabbing.”

Experience that makes a difference

Jennifer brings depth and continuity to her work as a trainer.

“I have been in corporate training with systems and processes for over twenty-five years.”
“Working in the VET sector and have been an independent trainer since 2014.”

This blend of corporate and VET experience enables her to deliver training that is practical, relevant, and aligned with industry needs; a key reason organisations choose iTFE as their training partner.
