Philippa’s journey of growth, resilience and leadership

For Philippa, returning to study through iTFE has been more than completing a qualification. It has been an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen her leadership skills and discover a new way of approaching communication, problem-solving and everyday workplace interactions.

That commitment has now been recognised, with Philippa nominated for iTFE Student of the Quarter for her resilience, curiosity and outstanding dedication to learning.

Throughout her training, Philippa consistently submitted thoughtful, high-quality work and regularly went beyond the supplied course material to deepen her understanding. Her trainer described her as a smart and insightful learner with a genuine passion for continuous growth.

Learning independently and building confidence

Philippa’s journey was not without challenges. Having completed her previous education in face-to-face settings, adapting to online learning was a significant adjustment.

Over time, other members of her original study group also left both the business and the training, meaning Philippa spent much of the course learning on her own. While she had built a strong rapport with the group and valued the opportunity to share ideas and encouragement, the experience helped her develop greater resilience and trust in her own abilities.

“While learning solo was challenging at times, this helped me build resilience and confidence in my own abilities,” Philippa said.

Support from iTFE played an important role in helping her stay connected and engaged. Philippa had access to additional online resources, reading materials and guidance when needed, but said the encouragement from her teacher Jenn made the biggest difference.

“The support from my teacher, Jenn, was exceptional. Her encouragement, communication and willingness to help made a significant difference,” she said.

Going beyond the expected

Philippa’s dedication was also clear when an enrolment error accidentally added four extra units to her workload. Rather than asking to have them removed, she asked to complete them all.

It was a decision that reflected her appetite for growth and her determination to make the most of every learning opportunity. Despite a demanding workload, Philippa regularly dedicated personal time outside work hours to refine her assessments and ensure she was submitting work she could be proud of.

Her nomination praised not only the quality of her work, but also her character as a learner and teammate. Philippa was described as someone who lifts others up, offers support to her team and brings a natural passion for becoming a better leader.

Applying learning at work and beyond

For Philippa, the program has created a shift that extends well beyond the classroom.

“One of the biggest things I gained from this program was a different way of thinking,” she said. “This program isn’t just teaching me workplace skills, it is changing the way I approach communication, leadership, problem-solving and even everyday interactions.”

Through her studies, Philippa has become more aware of how small changes in communication, support and leadership can influence outcomes at work and in daily life. She said the program has helped her step forward with ideas, take initiative and contribute beyond her day-to-day responsibilities.

Outside of work, the experience has also strengthened her discipline, adaptability and focus on continuous growth, particularly in environments that are constantly changing.

“Rather than just completing a qualification, I feel I am genuinely developing both professionally and personally through the experience,” Philippa said. “I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to participate in the program.”

A worthy Student of the Quarter nominee

Philippa’s story reflects the qualities iTFE celebrates in its learners: perseverance, curiosity, workplace application and a willingness to keep growing even when the path becomes challenging.

Her ability to adapt to online learning, continue independently, take on extra units and apply her learning in meaningful ways makes her a deserving nominee for Student of the Quarter.

Congratulations Philippa on this well-earned recognition and on the leadership growth you continue to demonstrate.
