NSW Advanced Licensee Training

Are you a Licensee, Manager or Club Secretary in NSW and need Advanced Licensee Training?

As our course is delivered face-to-face, you can get it done in a day.

Advanced Licensee Training is an additional course for those who may operate a business in a higher risk environment to ensure you are better prepared for the challenges of operating a licensed business. It includes licenced premises:

  • Authorised to trade after midnight on more than 12 occasions in any 12-month period
  • Certain business types, such as nightclubs and karaoke bars
  • Subject to a regulatory scheme
  • Directed by L&GNSW or ILGA

Advanced Licensee training covers topics that are designed to support you to understand:

  • Alcohol related harms in higher risk environments and the relevant laws that impact you as a licensee
  • The qualities required to be a leader and how to build a culture of compliance in your business
  • The different approaches government and industry have adopted to minimise alcohol related harms
  • How to identify and analyse risk, and implement best practice strategies to control risk in your business

Note: This course is delivered in English and the assessment must be completed by the participant in English.

Pre-requisites

Before you complete this training, you will need to hold a valid NSW competency card or interim certificate issued by a Liquor & Gaming NSW for Licensee training, and Responsible service of Alcohol (RSA).

If your current competency card also includes RCG you will need to either undertake the Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) refresher training prior to doing the Licensee Training or complete a RCG Declaration Form to remove RCG endorsement from your competency card.

Course outcomes

An interim certificate will be issued to students to acknowledge successful completion.

Students will then need to visit Service NSW with their Interim Cerificate and Identification to update their Competency Card.

A new Competency Card will be mailed to the applied address and is valid for five years.

Successful completion of this course automatically updates student’s NSW RSA for a further five years

Session 1: Overview of liquor regulation in higher risk environments in NSW
Session 2: Leading a culture of compliance
Session 3: NSW Government and industry approaches to minimise alcohol related harms
Session 4: Minimising risk of alcohol related harms in your business
PART A: Risk management
PART B: Best practice strategies to control risk
PART C: Leading a compliant business
Finalise assessments and next steps

Note: This course is delivered in English and the assessment must be completed by the participant in English.

Course is run over 4 consecutive hours and the maximum number of participants per class is 20. Advanced Licensee training consists of a range of activities, in class discussion and participation and at the end of your course you will be required to complete a short theory assessment comprised of short written answers and multiple choice.

Requirements

Participants are required to bring proof of identification documents, such as a passport or driver’s licence on the day of training.
